Flood Wall Training Exercise (page two)
(Rest your cursor on the pictures to enlarge.)
Everyone jumps in to do their part in helping.
Time to 'raise the bar(s)'.
The iron beams are lifted into place.
It takes a lot of manpower to accomplish this task.
Not to mention precise placement.
A rebar connects each beam to secure one to the next.
Once the support is connected to the stationary wall on the opposite side of the road...
...it is time to start moving the timbers.
One by one, the timbers are staggered on the support beams.
They continue to move upward with each timber, creating the 'wall'.
Once the timbers are in place, they begin leaning the planks against the timbers.
It creates a 'wall' across the road.
They continue until the wall is complete.
Once the wall is in place, heavy tarps are draped in order to stop any water from coming through.
Where necessary, and where there is no through traffic, man made 'dirt walls' have been built to protect Wellsville.
